Crypto Voters Take Center Stage at New Jersey GOTV Rally With Gubernatorial Candidates Fulop, Gottheimer, and Spadea

Candidates join Big Sean and 070 Shake to address the crypto voters poised to decide New Jersey's Gubernatorial Primary

June 6, 2025

JERSEY CITY, N.J., June 5, 2025 Stand With Crypto, America's leading crypto advocacy organization, brought together gubernatorial hopefuls vying for the New Jersey governorship with musical artists Big Sean and 070 Shake at a Get Out the Vote (GOTV) rally.

The event — ahead of next week's gubernatorial primary election — saw candidates from both parties make their case to one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing voting blocs in the Garden State. During the rally, candidates — including Jersey City Mayor Steven M. Fulop, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), and former businessman and radio host Bill Spadea — laid out their visions for New Jersey's digital future and pledged to champion innovation and the state's leadership in the digital economy.

With the primary just days away, crypto advocates made it clear: they're ready to vote for candidates who will deliver real leadership on digital asset policy.

Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) told crypto advocates that "I have an A on my crypto report card because I believe deeply that it is our future. It’s our chance to grow our state, with jobs, and to grow our state and our economy to make it smarter and more secure." Gottheimer touted his "long record, going back to 2019, of supporting stablecoins, FIT21, and now getting GENIUS done and making sure we get this across the finish line so that you have more economic opportunity, more growth, and more affordability in Jersey."

"I support crypto. More importantly, I support the whole concept of blockchain technology reforming and revamping our government," said Bill Spadea. "We're bringing a message of modernizing and empowering you, and bringing about the decentralized power that comes from blockchain and Bitcoin."

"There is no mayor in the state of New Jersey that has a stronger record with regards to crypto for a longer time than I do. That is a fact. There is no mayor in New Jersey that has been more involved personally in crypto than I have, and that is a fact." Mayor Fulop said. He urged advocates to "stand with crypto and send a message that this group of people are engaged and concerned with advocating for the future of New Jersey."

"Technology needs to be front and center when we vote," said Dan Silverman, CEO and Co-founder of Balcony Technology Group. "New Jersey has become a national leader in technological innovation, but progress isn't guaranteed. We need elected officials who understand this moment, who lean into it, and who champion the responsible adoption of emerging technologies. We can't afford to go backwards. The future is being built right now—let's make sure the people building it are on our side."

"Tonight's rally showed that New Jersey's crypto community is not just growing — it's energized, organized, and ready to vote," said Mason Lynaugh, Stand With Crypto Community Director. "The turnout, energy, and engagement from voters across the state sent a clear message: crypto matters in this election. Candidates are taking notice because this community is a force to be reckoned with at the ballot box."

"New Jersey is fast becoming a hub for crypto innovation, with businesses creating jobs and driving economic growth across the state. Any candidate serious about the state's future needs to have a real plan for supporting this sector," said Carlos Ivan Merino, Stand With Crypto New Jersey Chapter President. "Crypto is fundamental to New Jersey's digital economy, and it was fantastic to celebrate with fellow Garden State crypto founders and advocates this evening."

Stand With Crypto's recent voter research found that a candidate's stance on cryptocurrency will be an important factor in determining the vote of crypto-focused voters, and nearly two-thirds of Stand With Crypto members (63%) said they were more likely to vote for a pro-crypto candidate in the gubernatorial election. Seven-in-ten voters (70%) indicated they would research candidates' stances on cryptocurrency policy ahead of the election.

Crypto voters played a leading role in the 2024 general election and are primed to continue the momentum this year. In New Jersey, according to Stand With Crypto's research, three-in-four members (76%) are almost certain to vote in the November election.
